The PHA reached out anew to Quezon Memorial Circle habitués who queued from 7 a.m. to 10 a.m. for the free blood pressure (BP) taking, body mass index, fasting blood sugar and cholesterol test and electrocardiogram.

Majority of the respondents were residents from nearby depressed areas.

About 90 percent of the PHA Healthy Lifestyle (HL) holders (patients who got their HL passports during the launch of the PHA HL passport at the World Heart Day celebration in September 2010) trooped to the Quezon City park for their follow-up exams.

On one corner where PHA Council on Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) chair Dr. Francis Marcellus Ramirez and his members conducted the demo, people from all walks of life and ages -- adults and children-- displayed enthusiasm in CPR.

In his message, PHA Vice President Dr. Isabelo Ongtengco urged the public to do their roles in helping their respective workplace healthy.

PHA President Eleanor Lopez stressed on the benefits of practicing a healthy lifestyle by doing regular exercise, eating healthy, avoiding stress, and knowing your numbers, meaning your weight, waist circumference, BP, sugar and lipid profile.
Also on hand were other PHA Board members: Drs. Saturnino Javier (secretary), Eugene Reyes (treasurer), Joel Abanilla, Timothy Dy and Ma. Consolacion Dolor-Torres (directors) and Maria Teresa Abola (immediate past president).
