Legaspi, Albay is the 36th hop of the five-year-old BP ng Teacher Ko, Alaga Ko, spearheaded by the PHA Council on Hypertension. To date, the BP ng Teacher Caravan has attended to a total of 7,678 public school teachers and teaching personnel from 54 cities/towns in the country.
Aside from hypertension determination, the 150 teachers and non-teaching personnel from the Albay Central School were subjected to other risk factor screenings like cholesterol and fasting blood sugar tests. Their weight, height and weight circumference were also measured. ECG was done on a case-to-case basis.
PHA Council on Hypertension Council chair Dr. Irma Yape and PHAN Bicol Chapter president Dr. Narciso Thad Cioson, led the BP ng Teacher team that included Drs. Jerelyn Adviento and Rodel Buitizon from the Bicol Chapter.
PHA got helping hands from Drs. Maria Lynne Granado, Jennilyn Vinnaroya, Marlom John Joson and Pralessh Chandra, residents from the Bicol Regional Training and Teaching Hospital (BRTTH).
On hand too, were Dr. Maricon Dumlao and Loida Ramos from Department of Education Manila; DedEd School Division Superintendent Cecille Bernadette Rivera; Drs. Vivian Maninang and Jomer Clarino from the DepEd Division Office and Ronnie Manliclic from LRI-Therapharma Manila.
LRI-Therapharma committed anew to keep the project going for another 3 years from 2015 to 2017.
